At Husky Liners Blog, we love truck accessories like the feature-rich Retrax® EQ tonneau cover or the Go Rhino Dominator D6, a running board trusted by off-roaders around the globe.
While we enjoy the styling and practical benefits that tonneau covers and rock sliders can provide, as the old saying goes, it's what's on the inside that counts. There is no substitute for a durable floor liner when you're behind the wheel of your truck, be it for work or pleasure.
It's important to note that many of us at Husky Liners Blog fell into the "premium floor mat" habit for years. Before we worked here, when we would buy or lease a truck with the factory cloth mats, we would do the obligatory rubber mat upgrade right before winter.
However, those supposed premium mats were little to no help in the long run. The material quickly wore down from the heel of our right work boot as it rested there from our foot on the accelerator. After that, it was a continuous process of warping and curling along the edges. When we would remove them for cleaning, they never went back in correctly.
According to a 2019 study conducted by RealTruck, over 40 percent of consumers cited the false claim of a "perfect fit" as the most disappointing aspect of aftermarket mats. This is why Husky Liners are laser-measured to provide "edge-to-edge" interior coverage based on your vehicle's year, make, and model. It's also why Husky Liners have tested and proven material compounds to ensure a longer service life at a lower cost.
Husky Liners were born in the heart of America, where thousands of hardworking, honest, and adventurous souls come together to build their communities and raise their families. Husky Liners are in every place where work gets done and life gets enjoyed.
That founding philosophy has underpinned every Husky Liner since 1988, from humble beginnings in Winfield, Kansas, to a state-of-the-art facility in Lawrenceville, Georgia. It is often said that since Husky Liners were born in the Heartland, they can handle the demands of any land.
A deep commitment to American manufacturing ensures Husky Liners are of the highest quality. Customers see this demonstrated best in two key areas: longevity and durability. In other words, Husky Liners are designed for life for every aspect of life.
The new car smell might be something to celebrate, but the new floor liner smell? Not so much.
Although conventional logic suggests that rubbery aroma would fade with time, that's often not the case.
Some owners of leading brands have reported that cleaning them is of little help, even after two years. In fact, the process might include baking soda and essential oils, which seems far more time-consuming than hitting the floor liners with your hose or the spray gun at your local car wash.
Leading brands have poked fun at the "stinky floor liner" phenomenon in the past, suggesting that less expensive and foreign-made products are to blame. The good news is that Husky Liners products, like the X-act Contour® and Weatherbeater™ Floor Liners, are manufactured in the USA using safe, non-toxic, and unscented materials, so your interior will never smell like a tire store.
Further testing revealed that Husky Liners are less expensive than other leading brands, offering a win-win for buyers: Affordable, durable, and with no lingering rubber smell. These benefits are most evident in the X-act Contour® and Weatherbeater™ product lines, detailed further below.
At their core, Husky Liners are for those who work hard and play hard: farmers and contractors with a truck bed full of equipment, fleet managers overseeing a range of service vans, or enthusiasts with impressive rigs for overlanding on the weekends. Husky Liners protect the interior of these vehicles, whether on the jobsite or at the campsite.
According to a September 2022 study conducted by Insights Driven Research (IDR), truck owners often associate Husky Liners with durability and value—but you don't have to own a truck or van to see the benefits.
For example, some staffers here at Husky Liners Blog have a second vehicle that is not a truck. Many of us have friends and family who own a midsize sedan or a smaller crossover. We recommend Husky Liners in each instance. Since Husky Liners are engineered from a material standpoint to handle more extreme conditions, the longevity and durability go especially far for an ordinary daily driver.
According to Kelley Blue Book, the average new vehicle MSRP in June 2025 was $51,124, the second-highest on record behind December 2024 ($51,990). Industry data continues to show that new vehicles are more expensive now than at any other point in history. Husky Liners are a simple, affordable, and effective way to keep your current vehicle in tip-top shape so you can maximize every last mile.
When shopping for Husky Liners, you will see two flagship offerings: Weatherbeater™ and X-act Contour®, both featuring StayPut™ Nibs that safely and securely attach to your vehicle's floor. Likewise, both feature a laser-measured precision fit to ensure quick install and removal for cleaning, without curling and warping.
Below is a brief summary of each, but if you would like a deeper dive into the differences, my colleague Daniel Russo does an excellent job in this Weatherbeater™ Vs. X-act Contour® overview.
Warranty: Limited Lifetime.
American Made: Yes.
Think of the Weatherbeater™ as that quintessential all-season floor liner that protects your vehicle from the elements and those occasional coffee and soda spills.
The Weatherbeater™ offers unmatched performance for the dollar, thanks to the exclusive ProGard™ formula. Independent laboratory tests determined that the ProGard™ formula is 78 percent more durable (1), 30 percent less expensive (2), and offers a faster cleaning time (3) when compared to other leading brands.
At the end of the day, the Weatherbeater™ can handle your schedule and the schedule of anyone else who hitches a ride with you.
Warranty: Limited Lifetime.
American Made: Yes.
The X-act Contour® is a premium floor liner without the premium price tag (4). They are a nice upgrade to the Weatherbeater™ in head-to-head comparisons because of the exclusive ProCore™ formula.
For example, during independent laboratory testing, the patented ProCore™ formula of the X-act Contour® Floor Liners offered a 20 percent faster cleaning time than the Weatherbeater™ (5). That same testing found that the X-act Contour® held their shape without curling or warping (6) and were up to 10 percent softer than the Weatherbeater™ (7).
The softer feel and no-slip surface of the X-act Contour® Floor Liners make them an excellent option for long commutes. Meanwhile, the ProCore™ formula ensures any dirt and grime that gets inside stays put until it's time to clean the liners.
While the general consensus is that the X-act Contour® Floor Liners are an upgrade over the Weatherbeater™, you cannot go wrong with either.
Both are American-made and both are held to the same high standards in terms of material quality, craftsmanship, and longevity. And both are easy to clean so you don't, as one Reddit user noted, have to "burn the whole car and start anew" if you spill something.
