To optimize the production of our DuraGrip floor mats, the Husky Liners team turned to the impressive technology of injection molding. This process enables us to achieve perfect results and maximum value for our customers. What Is Injection Molding?
Injection molding is a manufacturing process used in various industries to efficiently mass-produce products with maximum precision and consistency. Due to the properties we desired from our All-Weather and Uni-Fit floor mats, including an overall softer feel and more flexible product, we turned to DuraGrip™—a proprietary material of Husky Liners. However, this product cannot be processed in the same manner as our ProGard™ and ProCore™ liners.
For the best possible results, we had to turn to a new manufacturing solution to process molten DuraGrip rubberized compound into our industry-leading floor mats.
How Does Injection Molding Work?
Injection molding begins with molten rubberized material—in the case of Husky Liners floor mats, our DuraGrip compound. This molten material is injected into a two-part alloy mold and rapidly cooled. Once the two halves are separated, excess material is trimmed off, revealing our premium floor mats. By using the same mold, we can ensure flawless results and a perfect fit. It’s the reason that if you place two orders for the same product, they aren’t just similar—they’re identical.
What Are the Benefits of Injection Molding?
Injection molding has several advantages over other manufacturing processes. First, this process yields the same results every time. If the same material is heated to the same temperature and injected into an identical mold, every product under the same part number will have the same form, properties, and appearance. Now that’s consistency.
Additionally, this process reduces labor time, increasing production and decreasing the time it takes from placing an order to receiving your product.
