One of the best things about using an SUV (or wagon) on a daily basis is the flexible, large cargo area that we can stuff all of our favorite things into.
Whether running to the warehouse store for that extra-large pack of toilet paper or hauling gear out to our favorite camping spot, the cargo area is the domain of stuff. The only downside of these commodious cargo areas is that it's a free-for-all back there if they aren’t filled up to the brim. Going, stopping, and cornering can dump grocery bags, spill liquids, send tools tumbling, or your kid's sports equipment smashing into the sides of your cargo area.
Luckily for SUV, wagon, and hatchback owners, Husky Liners® has developed a brilliantly simple solution to all cargo management needs: the Husky Liners® Cargo Logic system.
I had the chance to test this clever solution over the past week and came away seriously impressed.
Let’s examine why every vehicle with a cargo area should have the Husky Liners® Cargo Logic system.
Husky Liners sweats the small stuff when it comes to providing a high-quality product, and the Cargo Logic system is no exception.
4 Heavy-duty Cargo Lok cleats (8 pieces total) work in conjunction with a heavy-duty 30” x 36” mat to provide nearly infinite options for securing cargo.
Thanks to the mat's size and shape, it easily fits into most cargo areas, even on smaller SUVs, sedans, or hatchbacks. Right out of the box, as you’d expect from a brand like Husky Liners, the thermoplastic mat has a thick, durable, high-quality feel. To help secure any spills and better contain cargo (more on that later), Husky Liners engineered a lip all the way around the perimeter of the mat.
This mat is made of the same high-quality Husky Liner all-weather floor mat thermoplastic, with a thick carpeted layer bonded to the top. That carpeted layer is essential to why this system works so well. On the underside of each Cargo Lok cleat is a strip of dense hook-and-loop-style material designed to firmly latch into that dense carpeted layer.
Thanks to the durable design, the Cargo Logic mat is designed to withstand rain, mud and snow and can be easily cleaned, just like a Husky Weatherbeater Floor Liner.
Simply put, this design works exceptionally well for managing a wide variety of gear and should be one of the first things you put into your vehicle.
Like many owners, I keep a wide variety of gear in the back of my Outback. Things like a 12v tire inflator, a jumper box, a blanket, puffer jackets, and other emergency supplies come along for every ride. I also regularly carry bigger items: furniture, camping gear, suitcases, and basically everything you can think of.
Before rocking the Cargo Logic system in my Outback, I used a collapsible storage crate to store all my emergency and road gear.
Annoyingly, the crate would slide everywhere, even with a Husky Liners Cargo Liner. Plus, it took up a substantial amount of space and didn’t provide much functionality. Every grocery trip or store run, I’d find myself jostling the crate around to either block items from rolling hold groceries.
Thanks to this system's flexibility, I could move some of the bigger items (cold bag and 12v inflator) out of the cargo crate and secure them with the Cargo Lok cleats. This gave me the opportunity to push the cargo crate against the lip on the mat to keep it from sliding, and I used an additional Cargo Lok cleat to keep it from sliding forward, and another to secure it sideways. Now, I have an open cargo crate that I can use to store more gear, groceries, or whatever else I need.
The best part? Nothing moves. Even with the high-speed highway on ramps and some mild off-roading, everything that I put in its place was in the same spot when I got to my destination.
When it came time to head out on a family road trip, I removed all the Cargo Lok cleats and stashed them underneath the floor with my spare tire, leaving a completely open cargo space to store a week's worth of stuff. When I got home, I set up the cargo area again in a matter of minutes.
Awesome!
Let’s start by saying this product should be in your cargo area if you own a vehicle. Period.
I’ve already found myself thinking about creative ways to keep my gear from rolling around and maximizing the space even more. Depending on the gear you’re holding down, you can conjure up all types of designs using the lip of the cargo liner or a corner of your cargo space as an anchor, maximizing the 8 Cargo Lok cleats.
Not only are they easy to secure in place, they are also easily removed and reconfigured on the fly no matter what cargo you need to secure. Throw in a super durable, high-quality, easy-to-clean mat, and you have a combination that will be useful to any vehicle owner for many years to come. Even if you get a new vehicle or regularly lease one, the mat and Cargo Loks are so easy to move that you won’t think twice about it.
No matter the type of vehicle or what you haul around, Husky Liners’ Cargo Logic system has a place in your cargo area or trunk.
Thumbs up for this product, big time!
